Moving to China immersed me in a culture so unlike anything I had experienced it forced me to wake up to the realization that new places didn’t have to be bold frontiers to be explored. I made it my mission to convey a deep desire to express different cultures and places in their natural forms, achieved not through a formula for each new place, but through first taking a moment to understand the culture you’re trying to photograph. Only in understanding it may you then represent it to the best of your ability.
